10:00 a.m.–12:00 noon – Visit to the Würzburg Residence and Court Garden
The day begins with a UNESCO World Heritage highlight: a visit to the Prince-Bishops’ Residence and its beautiful Court Garden, for example as part of a two-hour guided tour, is a must when visiting Würzburg. Often described as the “palace above all palaces,” the Residence was built between 1720 and 1744 and is considered one of Europe’s finest Baroque palaces. Highlights include the monumental ceiling fresco by Venetian artist Giovanni Battista Tiepolo in the grand staircase, the White Hall, the Imperial Hall and the magnificent Mirror Cabinet.

12:00 noon–2:00 p.m. – Relaxed lunch
After so many impressions, a leisurely lunch featuring traditional Franconian cuisine is the perfect choice. Recommended venues include the historic Bürgerspital Weinstuben and Juliusspital Weinstuben, as well as the Alte Mainmühle, which offers splendid views of the Old Main Bridge and Marienberg Fortress. The Würzburger Hofbräukeller in the Zellerau district and the Brauereigasthof Alter Kranen demonstrate that beer culture is also firmly rooted in Würzburg and invite guests to linger in their attractive beer gardens.

2:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m. – Wine-tasting tour through Würzburg’s Old Town
Who was Saint Kilian, after whom both the cathedral and the local festival are named? How did an inn become the Tourist Information Centre, and why is the chapel on the market square so unusually large? On this wine-tasting tour through the Old Town, participants discover Würzburg from both a storytelling and culinary perspective. A qualified guide shares fascinating stories about the city while guests sample wines from Würzburg and the Franconian Wine Country at selected venues.
